The College aim is to provide Christ-centered schooling in an atmosphere of love, respect, peace and discipline which will encourage students to achieve their potential for God.
Groves Christian College seeks to:
- Encourage students to do their best in their learning (excellence in education)
- Inspire Christian character
- Provide students with the thinking skills and the moral values and foundations
- Develop student abilities, gifts and potential
- Help students to fulfill the purpose God has planned for them.
The College’s Educational Philosophy
The College is primarily a community of learners. Education, the collective life-long process of teaching and learning that leads to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, ethical, aesthetic and emotional development of individuals is the essence of the College. Christ like character development of all College members is the prayerful hope of the College. Therefore, the provision of schooling where this happens is the ministry of the College.
In considering a move from conventional schooling to Distance Education, parents may be asking the following questions:
-
Are the differences in social values, behavioural standards or religious beliefs that are promoted within non-Christian environments a threat to my student’s welfare?
-
Should I have more influence over the beliefs and behaviours that my child (ren) adopt(s), or trust an education framework with a different belief system?
-
Is my child’s current learning environment really working for them?
These are important questions that many parents ask all the time. All parents want the best for their children, and educating at home through Groves Distance Education offers many advantages over secular and direct-instructional conventional schooling outlines the curriculum program of Groves Christian College School of Distance Education and the many benefits of the program for families whose students are unable to access mainstream schooling or for families who wish to utilise home-based learning through Distance Education.

Family Educational and Life Goals
Family goals are very important to Groves Christian College. For Distance Education to be effective, it is dependant upon parents, students and Groves DE staff, working in partnership, to provide quality learning outcomes for students. Consequently, parents’ goals, attitudes and beliefs are important in defining home-based learning success:
-
Do you enjoy working with your children within a home-based learning environment, taking more time to experience the many real life-learning situations that surround us?
-
Do you desire to be actively involved within your children’s academic and life education, building positive functional relationships?
-
Have you the time and commitment required to invest in these activities with family members?
If the answer is ‘yes’, then Groves has the resources to ensure success in providing quality learning outcomes for your children and young people.
Learning is a life-long process. Teaching children and equipping them with the skills and attributes that they require to be successful spiritually, academically, physically, and socially (and eventually, financially) is no easy task. Even with years of experience, a good teacher (as with all developing professionals and intelligent adults) is always growing and developing, undertaking further study, seeking and taking advice from other professionals and working within a team to provide the best for their students. Distance Education and home-based learning is no different. For students to be the best they can be, parents still need to work hard – and Groves offers the opportunity for all (that is, students, parents and staff) to work as part of a team to obtain the best outcomes for students.
Working with the Groves team will also give families access to a valuable raft of services and resources.
