Registration and Legislation

We acknowledge the favourable legislation that allows families to use distance education. Families in Australia are free to utilise distance education learning and to play an active role in their children’s learning. You may register as a “Distance Education” family with the Government or register with Groves or another accredited distance education provider.

This is an important issue as we often come across parents who are carrying unnecessary anxiety regarding legal requirements of distance education.

Is failing to register as a “distance education family” or going the “Non – Permission Route” (as some refer to it) breaking the law of a Government that God has placed in authority over us?

There is no need to do that. The Government is merely asking to be kept informed so that they can meet their accountabilities as a Government with support and monitoring. Sadly, we live in a society where children are abused, often within isolated situations. This applies to a very small minority, but a good Government still needs to be able to monitor the whereabouts and what is happening to children everywhere to enable the provision of protection where needed.
