At one time or another every adult female has had to contend with bacterial vaginosis. You do not have to be familiar with the clinical term in order to recognize his symptoms of this condition. It is caused by an imbalance of the naturally occurring bacteria found within the vagina. When one of the many bacteria overtakes the others, it causes the symptoms which are called vaginosis. Once the offending bacteria have reached a certain state of overgrowth, it will cause a vaginal discharge and noticeable odor.

The condition is not considered a severe health threat. However it is a condition which should be treated by a physician. There are other illnesses which can present themselves with similar discharge and odor which are quite serious. These illnesses are chlamydia and gonorrhea. You must make sure you’re not suffering from these two illnesses.
